Queer representation in Digital games

Games industry.biz

This article was about a backlash that Game studio E.A received from angry gamers about their inclusion of LGBTQ  characters in their video games.

It demonstrated that the ongoing battle for inclusive game design comes at the cost of alienating a subset of straight gamers who seem unwilling or unable to have queer characters in their games without becoming very upset.

It talked at length about the backlash E.A received whilst also giving an example of one of the thousands of letters they received.

I found this article helpful as it demonstrated the ongoing political strife around the inclusion of queer characters in the medium. As with many media art forms, any inclusion of LBGTQ+ characters seems to be received as an attack on the straight hegemony and only seems to enrage and confuse a vocal minority of angry homophobes.
