Queer representation in Digital games

Dw.com

This was a fantastic article detailing the the history of lgbtq+ characters in video games and the response they’ve received from the public.

it also talked about the general political atmosphere surrounding gaming and how pushes for more inclusive and fairer representation has been meet with disdain and even hatred from the larger gaming demographic. reading this article has helped me understand the broader historical context of this ongoing fight for “queer” representation in the growing medium of video games as a art form

It also listed a a few positive representations of Lgbtq+ characters that featured in games as far back as the 80’s all the way up too an example of a character named “Ellie”  who featured in a game name “The last of us” that came out June 2013.

this article help me understand the ongoing political situation around queer inclusiveness in gaming and also highlighted why Ellie from the last of us is such a landmark character for the medium as a whole
