When looking at Representation its important too look at who is being represented how they’re being represented and who for.
The feminist film theorist Laura Maulrey argued that women’s primary role in films during the 1940’s to the 1950’s, was essentially to be an object for male desires.
She argued that basically female characters are eye candy for male protagonists and she based her arguments in the works of psychoanalysts like Frued and Lacan.
the three Primary ways women are portrayed as sexual objects for the consumption of the male gaze are. The looks of the male protagonist, the look of the camera, and the look of the male audience members.
